Botox. Dysport. Neuceiva.

What is neurotoxin?

Neurotoxin, aka Botox is short for Botulinum Toxin, is a neurotoxic protein. Other brands include Neuceiva or Dysport. It is widely used in both medical and cosmetic treatments. It works by blocking the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter responsible for triggering muscle contractions. By inhibiting this release, Botox temporarily paralyzes or weakens the targeted muscles, leading to reduced muscle activity and softened wrinkles or alleviated medical symptoms. The effects typically last from three to six months, after which repeat treatments are needed to maintain the results.

How long does it last?

Typically lasts about 3 to 4 months. However, this duration can vary depending on several factors:

  1. Individual Metabolism: Some people metabolize Botox more quickly than others, leading to a shorter duration of effect.

  2. Dosage and Injection Site: The amount of Botox used and the specific area treated can influence how long the effects last.

  3. Frequency of Treatment: Regular Botox users might find that the effects last longer over time as the muscles become trained to relax.

  4. Muscle Strength: Stronger facial muscles may require more frequent treatments.

  5. Lifestyle Factors: Smoking, stress, and extensive physical activity can affect the longevity of Botox.

Most people need to repeat the treatment 3 to 4 times a year to maintain the desired results.
